About the event

Richard Vevers is an Emmy Award-winning storyteller and explorer, best known for starring in the Netflix documentary Chasing Coral and for taking Google Street View underwater. He leads Room 71, a unique ocean communication initiative at the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution (WHOI), the world’s leading non-profit dedicated to ocean science, which has pioneered ocean exploration for nearly 100 years.
His Room 71 initiative is reimagining how people perceive the ocean and ocean science. In this talk, Richard reveals that the ocean is not what people imagine. He explores how human nature leads us to misperceive the ocean and believe we understand it far better
than we do. Richard then reintroduces the ocean and its life as understood by the world’s leading oceanographers and explorers. You'll never look at the ocean or our world in the same way again. This talk is a must for all ocean sailors!
