RACING AT BYC

Whether you're a serious racer or beer can sailor,
there's an event or class for everyone!

Bristol Yacht Club has one of the most diverse and active racing programs on Narragansett Bay! It is a great racing club for sailors of all levels and we welcome newcomers.  The racing program offers week-day Summer Series racing Monday through Thursday. Included in the Summer Series racing are Team, One Design and PHRF races. BYC hosts numerous regattas, from the Spring 2V2 Team Race J22  in early May to a Quahog Dinghy regatta to close out the season in October with a Frostbite Series through the winter months.

One Design Racing
Bristol Yacht Club has a number of One Design Fleets and Race Series, racing on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday nights. Monday nights in the summer BYC members and EBSF students race Cape Cod Mercurys. The Tuesday Night Series starts in May with Lasers and other dinghies that can put a class together. The Thursday Night Keel Boat One Design Racing season starts in June with the J-22 fleet and other one-design keel boat classes.

PHRF Racing

The Bristol Yacht Club Millard Series is the Bristol Harbor summer PHRF series on Wednesday evenings. There are six separate classes for spinnaker and non-spinnaker competitors with more than 40 boats participating, and a dedicated, consistent Race Committee.

Bristol Yacht Club members also participate in events around Narraganset Bay and beyond. These other events are always a fun way to do some weekend racing competing with other clubs. To learn more about PHRF Racing with Bristol Yacht Club, contact Mark Rotsky at rotskybyc@gmail.com or 508-245-1192.

Team Racing
Team racing at BYC is rapidly strengthening! Using the fleet of J-22s the Club hosts a Random Pairs Team Race in the spring, a Monday Night Team Race Series in the summer, and an Invitational 3v3 event in the fall. The format for the Random Pair is a fun and exciting event where racers are matched with other skippers to race against another team of two. The Monday Night Team Race Series is 3v3 and is a great way to hone your skills against some of the best team racers in the area. The BYC Team Race Invitational in the fall is an opportunity for BYC to host other clubs in a 3v3 format. To learn more about Team Racing, contact Nick Cromwell- nick.cromwell@cox.net

Frostbite Series

Our Frostbite Series sails every Saturday afternoon, November through March, and consists of two fleets:  Lasers and Aeros. Races are held right off the BYC pier using the uniquely designed RC Float. Need a boat? We can hook you up with one. Have an old Laser hanging around? Come on out with us. The weather may be cold, but the action is hot and the fellowship tops.
