HIGHLIGHTS:

Day 1: The Kickemuit River is a popular place to anchor and enjoy warm summer days and nights. We will anchor generally in the southeast area of the river. We will have a drink of the day and a pot luck gathering hosted by Bill and Kathy Toohey, at their neighborhood gathering area in the southwest corner of the river where their neighborhood association has a dinghy dock. They will have some tables set up but bring your folding chairs.

Day 2: Third Beach, Peabody Beach Club. We will cruise out the Kickemuit River, across Mt Hope Bay and down the Sakonnet River to Third Beach in Middletown. You can reserve a mooring via Dockwa or anchor in the area. You can enjoy the beach or take a hike over to Sachuest. We will gather at the Peabody Beach Club for a drink of the day and pot luck.

Day 3 and 4. Newport.  Before leaving Third Beach, join us for an Audubon guided bird watch walk at 8:00 am at Third Beach.  Beach your dinghies to the left of Third Beach. We will sail out the Sakonnet River and then head west to Newport. Make your mooring reservations with Old Port via Dockwa. Monday night we will gather at Newport Yacht Club for cocktails and then dinner at Lucia’s which is a short walk from Newport YC. Tuesday is a lay day, so you are on your own to enjoy the sights. Some may enjoy gathering at Newport YC for cocktails before heading out to whatever restaurant you may decide to enjoy.

Day 5: Dutch Harbor. From Newport will sail around Jamestown to Dutch Harbor. It’s your choice if you want to make your way to Dutch around the northern or southern end of Jamestown. Make your mooring reservation at Dutch Harbor Boatyard via Dockwa. We will gather at the Dutch Harbor Boatyard grill area for drink of the day, BYOB and pot luck.

Day 6: Wickford Yacht Club. As Wickford isn’t too far away, you can decide to do some sailing around the East Passage before arriving at Wickford Yacht Club. Make your mooring reservations with WYC on Dockwa or grab one of the first come, first served town moorings that are to port as you enter the harbor. We will gather at the lovely Wickford Yacht Club for a glass of wine (DOTD) before walking into the lovely village for dinner at Tates (Italian) or Wickford By the Sea.

Day 7: Rhode Island Yacht Club, Pawtuxet. Perhaps take another stroll in Wickford before departing for RIYC, always a friendly and welcoming club. Make your mooring reservations with RIYC via Dockwa. Take a stroll through Pawtuxet village and then gather for a cocktail in RIYC’s bar before we gather for dinner. The RIYC restaurant offers reasonably priced and yummy dinner options.

Day 8: Bristol. Optionally gather for coffee and pastry at RIYC and a short cruise debrief before we head back to Bristol YC.
