ANNUAL SUMMER CRUISE -  2026

Cruise East with the Bristol Yacht Club!

The annual cruise is headed east this year, with visits to Third Beach, New Bedford, Quissett, Edgartown, Nantucket, Vineyard Haven and Cuttyhunk.  The cruise will begin on 7/10 and conclude on 7/19 and cruisers can join for some or all of the trip.  Detailed information on the cruise and registration will be available in mid April.

 

REGISTRATION

You can sign up to join the cruise from April 15 to June 1. However cruisers should also note that some harbors may run out of mooring/slips long before June. As such, it would be prudent to make your reservations ASAP via Dockwa after reviewing the planned ports below. 

 

​​HIGHLIGHTS

Day 1, Friday, July 10 Third Beach 

We will start our journey by cruising 17nm to Third Beach.  Moorings are available through Dockwa or there is an anchorage available outside of mooring field.  We will be gathering on the beach for potluck dinner with drink of the day being red and white wine at 6:00 PM. 

 

Third Beach is a great spot for paddle boarding, sunbathing and swimming, and you can stretch your legs in the Sachuest Point Wildlife Refuge, the Norman Bird Sanctuary or on a short stroll to Second Beach.  Day Captains:  Stacy and EJ Dochoda

 

Day  2:, Saturday, July 11, New Bedford

We will cruise 34nm from Third Beach to Pope’s Island,  New Bedford.   Mooring and slips are available through Dockwa.  An Italian buffet dinner is planned at Moby Dick Brewing Company.  Register for dinner via the website when available and you will pay at restaurant. Day Captains: Laura and Laura Tambascio

 

Day 3, Sunday, July 12, Quissett. 

From New Bedford we will cruise 14nm to Quissett.    Moorings will be available from harbor master.  There will be a gathering for a potluck dinner on the beach and the drink of the day will be red sangria. There are a few nice trails to explore around this quaint harbor. Day Captains: Joyce and Mike Sullivan

 

Day 4 & 5, Monday & Tuesday, July 13 & 14, Edgartown

From Quissett, we will cruise 17nm through Woods Hole to Edgartown. Moorings and slips are available through Dockwa.  There is anchorage available.  On Monday you will have an evening on your own to explore and then on Tuesday enjoy a dinner together at The Seafood Shanty in Edgartown. There will be 3 seatings, 5:00, 6:00 and 7:00. Register for seating via website registration and pay at the restaurant.

 

You can explore the many shops and restaurants in Edgartown or take the VTA to any other areas on Martha’s Vineyard or traverse the bike paths on the island.  There is a Stop and Shop located a few blocks past the center of Edgartown.  Day Captain: Carole  McFarland

 

Day 6 & 7, Wednesday & Thursday, July 15 &16,  Nantucket.

We will cruise 27nm to Nantucket from Edgartown.  Moorings are available through Dockwa.  On Wednesday, we will enjoy a potluck on Children’s Beach with a drink of the day,  red and white wine. The next day, we will gather at Cisco brewery for drinks, food and music.

While on Nantucket, we can explore the quaint town including many shops, restaurants and The Whaling Museum or take the Wave bus for free or walk/bike on the bike path to enjoy other areas of the island. There is a Stop and Shop located in town for any provisioning or potluck needs.  Day Captain: Barbara Petrocelli

 

Day 8, Friday, July. 17, Vineyard Haven

After two nights in Nantucket, we will start our trip back to Bristol and sail for 27nm to Vineyard Haven. Moorings or slips can be reserved through Dockwa.  There are several anchorages in the area.

We can explore the quaint shops, including bakeries and ice cream. There is also a Stop and Shop for provisioning across from Steamship Authority in town   We will gather at the gazebo for pizza, salad and BYOB.  Day Captain: Tom Dawson

 

Day 9, Saturday, July 18, Cuttyhunk  

After a night in Vineyard Haven, we will continue our trip towards Bristol  and make a 20nm trip to Cuttyhunk.  Moorings or slips can be reserved ahead of time through Dockwa. An anchorage area is also available.  We can wander about this charming island, and get together for dinner at Cuttyhunk Shellfish Company for your choice of a lobster or chicken dinner including a raw bar, corn, sweet or white potatoe, steamer clams, linguica and watermelon, register and prepay.  DOD will be wine and beer.  Day Captain: Paul Norton

 

Day 19, July 19, Bristol

On Sunday, we'll make the final leg of our cruise 31 nm back to Bristol.
